Callie B. McGinnis discusses her experiences working in the library at Columbus State University (formerly Columbus College) beginning in 1974. During Dean McGinnis' tenure, the library progressed from using the card catalog in 1974 to computers beginning in the early 80's. Dean McGinnis recalls many changes at CSU, including new buildings, establishment of the CSU Archives, and opening the RiverPark campus including the Music Library. Dean McGinnis served as chair of the 50th Anniversary Committee which conducted four main events: a kickoff at the clock tower, an open house on April 4-5, a banquet, and a convocation at the Bill Heard Theater in September. She was also on the 25th Anniversary Committee and co-chaired an all-day picnic which featured a 25 ft. scrambled dog and a 400 lb. birthday cake.

Callie B. McGinnis was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. She attended Benjamin Franklin High School, a college prep school. She graduated from Southwestern College (later named Rhodes College) in Memphis, Tennessee, with a degree in English. Then she went to Louisiana State University and earned a Masters degree in Library Science. Her first job was at Macon Jr. College.
